MY BLESSINGS
CALL ME
YI-YI

In the words of Passuh Tauheed... "They ask me what I do/ and who I do it for...":

I do it for the aunties: the ones that raised me both literally and figuratively, the ones who picked me up when I fell and said I should go ahead anyhow. I do it for the women who showed me the facets of my mother's life before she was my mom, who demonstrated that "fly" wasn't just a verb but an adjective to emote. Becoming a live-in auntie during a pandemic that saw so much loss put the idea of recognizing and giving props to the community of young aunties I know into my head. Many of us are waiting to be mothers, are mothers, or don't want children at all and still mother The Littles around us. That's honorable and incredible.

Putting myself out there in such a public manner is not always easy, but I’ve found that the more I do the easier it is. As an Auntie-in-Learning, I enjoy showing the things I'm picking up on this journey and sharing some of my most personal moments with y'all. While being an auntie is a role I lovingly hold, I also consider it my duty to show my Littles that it's just as important to pour into themselves. This platform an ongoing creation with so much potential to grow and evolve, and I'm hyped that you stopped off in my corner of the innanets. Welcome to the Auntiehood.

                                        Signed, A Dope Auntie
